Challenge

  • Deliver a product training experience to raise the levels of product knowledge among retail staff across the 500 stores
  • Revamp the roadshow approach used previously by Currys to train retail staff
  • Improve customer service.

Solution

  • Involve 16 of Currys' core suppliers across a two week period
  • Development of PLC live! to build upon Currys' on-line learning initiative called ‘Product Learning Centre'
  • Strategic choice of five regional venues to address the target attendance of 260 staff at each event
  • Dynamic theming to reinforce awareness of the PLC website and Currys' overall training strategy
  • An interactive and fun experience for staff when ‘surfing' the on-line ‘supplier pages' at the event.

Results

  • 15% higher attendance levels than Currys' target
  • 95% of staff rated the relevance of the training as ‘good' or ‘excellent'
  • 100% of suppliers rated the event as better than previous Currys colleague events
  • The most successful brands saw sales spikes of up to 15% through Currys' stores.
